SANTA CLARA -- In an odd twist, the NFL fined 49ers wideout Anquan Boldin $7,875 for a head butt that did not draw a penalty in last Sunday's win, while the Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn did not get fined for his head butt that was penalized.

Two other $7,875 fines were issued: to 49ers running back Frank Gore for his second-quarter face-mask penalty, and to Panthers cornerback Josh Thomas for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Panthers safety Mike Mitchell was not fined for a first-quarter foul in which he sideswiped Vernon Davis. Coach Jim Harbaugh also avoided any fine for rushing onto the field to stop the clock, though he did draw a penalty.
