FIVE LIKELY 49ers

Five players who could become 49ers on Thursday with the No. 30 pick in the draft, assuming they don't trade down:

CB Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech (6-0, 190) The Virginia Tech captain started his four-year term as a nickel back, he touts special teams proficiency, and he ate lunch with Jim Harbaugh on the Hokies' Pro Day.

CB Jason Verrett, TCU (5-10, 178) This Fairfield native didn't let his size stop him from dominating at TCU. He can step right in and cover the slot, though it's a challenging role that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio won't easily bequeath.

CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Nebraska (6-3, 218) His size compares to that of Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, but Jean-Baptiste wasn't as brash, tough or physical at Nebraska.

WR Brandin Cooks, Oregon State (5-10, 189) The Stockton native (below) is vertically challenged but quick and slot-position ready. His 128 receptions last season for the Beavers were the most by a Biletnikoff Award winner since Michael Crabtree (138, 2007).

WR Cody Latimer, Indiana (6-2, 215) Catching a pass in every game he played for Indiana -- and 72 total receptions last season -- sounds Jerry Rice-esque. He's coming off a foot injury, which sounds Crabtree-esque.
