Five players who could become 49ers Thursday with the No. 30 pick in the draft assuming they don't trade down for additional picks:

Bradley Roby

Cornerback, Ohio State

Height/weight: 5-foot-11/194 pounds

Comment: The 49ers lost 2013 starters Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers to free agency; Roby has the ability to challenge for a starting spot right away

Tre Mason

Running back, Auburn

Height/weight: 5-foot-8/207 pounds

Comment: LaMichael James doesn't appear suited for a heavy workload in the NFL and veteran Frank Gore is at the tail end of his prime; Mason is a dynamic player who could flourish behind the 49ers offensive line

Louis Nix

Defensive tackle, Notre Dame

Height/weight: 6-foot-2/331 pounds

Comment: He is ideally suited to play in the interior of the defensive line; fast for his size and plays with admirable passion, though there are concerns about his weight becoming an issue

Kelvin Benjamin

Wide receiver, Florida State

Height/weight: 6-foot-5/235 pounds

Comment: Anquan Boldin can't play at a Pro Bowl level forever; Benjamin has the kind of size and strength that poses matchup nightmares for opposing defenses

Darqueze Dennard

Cornerback, Michigan State

Height/weight: 5-foot-11/191 pounds

Comment: Very physical player who shined on a top-notch defense; very competent tackler, especially in the open field, isn't afraid to provide support against the run
