Colin Kaepernick has revealed the extent of last season's foot injury: a chipped bone on his forefoot and a ruptured capsule in the ball of his foot.

Kaepernick told the Sacramento Bee he sustained the injury in a Week 2 loss at Seattle when a defender landed on his foot. The 49ers' injury reports vaguely described Kaepernick's ailment as merely a "foot" injury through October, while Kaepernick coyly passed it off as a "hangnail" issue.

Fast forward to present-day Kaepernick: he looks in tiptop shape and shows no signs of any lingering foot problem.

He hasn't had any carries through three exhibition series, but he did roll out of trouble and evade a sack at least once in Sunday's 34-0 exhibition loss to the Denver Broncos.

Kaepernick hasn't missed a start since seizing that role from Alex Smith midway through the 2012 season. Two months ago, he signed a six-year contract extension worth up to $126 million.
