PLEASANTON -- Marcy Feit is no longer ValleyCare Health System's president and CEO, hospital officials said Thursday.
"As of Tuesday, she's no longer with the health system and I can't share any more details with you at this point," said John Sensiba, chairman of the ValleyCare board of directors. He said he hoped to be able do so in coming weeks.
Scott Gregerson, ValleyCare's vice president of strategic partnership, was chosen to replace Feit as interim ValleyCare CEO.
Employees were informed of the change through a memo and forums held Wednesday, Sensiba said.
He said the board of directors also sent a memo to approximately 1,400 corporate members of the private nonprofit health system, members who have each donated $1,000 or more to the nonprofit.
He said Feit had been with the organization for about 42 years and was CEO the past 15.
News of her departure was accompanied with "a lot of surprise and curiosity" from employees (Wednesday), as often comes "whenever there's a change at the top," he said.
Despite the uncertainities in health care right now due to health care reform, the health system "has both short- and long-term strategies to maintain its financial health," he said.
"And it has a strong management to help lead the organization through the transition," he added.
