A man and woman each face a vehicle theft charge after they were caught traveling in a car reported stolen in Hayward, Alameda police said.

The man, 38, was driving the vehicle and the 32-year-old woman was in the front seat when an officer pulled them over at 9:40 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Elm Street, police said.

Along with arresting the couple after the traffic stop, police impounded the vehicle.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19

  • BURGLARY -- A burglar entered an apartment in the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue through a rear sliding door on a balcony and then stole items from inside, police said. The burglary was reported about 2:45 a.m. A burglary was also reported about 6:25 p.m. in the 1900 block of Shoreline Drive, where cash and computers were stolen. The thief entered the residence through an unlocked front door, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 7:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Taylor Avenue.

  • ELDER ABUSE -- Police are investigating a report that someone opened a credit card account using the personal information of a Willow Street resident. The suspect knew the victim is more than 65 years old, police said.

  • PETTY THEFT -- Police arrested a man, 30, and a woman, 25, after they allegedly shoplifted merchandise from Nob Hill on Blanding Avenue. The arrests occurred about 9:45 a.m.

    THURSDAY, SEPT. 20

  • PETTY THEFT -- Police arrested two men after they allegedly shoplifted meat at the Lucky supermarket on Marina Village Parkway by concealing it on a wheelchair that one of the men was using. One man, 34, faces a petty theft charge, while the second man, 33, was arrested on suspicion of robbery because police said he struggled with a security guard who detained them as they were exiting the supermarket.

    FRIDAY, SEPT. 21

  • BURGLARY -- Bicycle wheels were stolen during a burglary of a garage in the 1400 block of Sixth Street, police said. The theft was reported about 9:50 a.m.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 50, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 11:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of Santa Clara Avenue. The woman allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

    SATURDAY, SEPT. 22

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 23, on suspicion of drunken driving about 1:15 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Central Avenue.

  • BURGLARY -- Laundry and bleach were reported stolen about 9:50 a.m. during the burglary of a laundry room of a duplex in the 2400 block of Lincoln Avenue, police said.

    SUNDAY, SEPT. 23

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Officers dispatched to investigate the report of a disturbance in the 1500 block of Central Avenue arrested a man, 61, after he was allegedly found carrying suspected methamphetamine. The man, who was arrested about 12:40 a.m., was also in possession of two pipes used for smoking the substance. Police said they found the pipes and methamphetamine after learning the man could be searched as a condition of his probation.

  • DISTURBING THE PEACE -- Police arrested a 23-year-old man and two women, ages 38 and 39, about 1:45 a.m. in the 1300 block of Park Street on suspicion of public intoxication. The women were involved in a physical fight, which initially led officers to arrive at the scene, where the man was still present after he tried to break up the fight earlier, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 3:10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

    MONDAY, SEPT. 24

  • COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- Someone used a cement block to break into a business in the 1700 block of Park Street, police said. The break-in was reported about 5:20 a.m.

  • BURGLARY -- Tools and bicycles were stolen during a burglary of a garage in the 600 block of Sandlewood Isle that was reported about 6:30 a.m. A burglary was also reported at 4:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairway Place, where two firearms were stolen from a residence. Another burglary was reported about 5:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Oak Street, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just before 11 a.m. in the 1500 block of Fifth Street, police said.
