Corey Sails ran for 151 yards and a touchdown as the Encinal High football team came back to defeat San Leandro 25-21 on Oct. 26 for the Jets' first West Alameda County Conference--Foothill Division victory of the season.

Encinal (5-5, 1-3 WACC-Foothill) bounced back from a 21-10 third-quarter deficit to claim the win.

"We were real hungry," Sails said.

It was largely because of the senior running back that the host Jets were in position to win. Down by 11 in the third quarter, Sails broke a 67 yard run that led to an 11-yard score by Jordan Parker. Sails then ran in the two-point conversion to make it a 21-18 game.

The score held until late in the fourth quarter, when Sails reached paydirt from 58 yards out to give his team the final lead of the game.

Encinal quarterback Taivale Tautalatasi finished with 67 rushing yards, most of came on a 42-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

San Leandro (0-9, 0-4) scored on rushing touchdowns by Finau Mataafa and quarterback Stephen Johnson and a pass by Johnson to Keone Foumai.

The Jets will host Hayward on Nov. 2. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Alameda 22, San Lorenzo 6: In a game filled with turnovers, Alameda was able to take advantage to post a WACC-Shoreline Division victory over San Lorenzo on Oct. 26 at Arroyo High School.

Jack Rausser intercepted Rebels quarterback Kevin Mosi's first pass, setting up Elijah Hernandez's 34-yard run for a 7-0 Hornets lead.

With Alameda (3-6, 1-3 WACC-Shoreline) clinging to a 7-6 fourth-quarter lead, Darnell Rose recovered a San Lorenzo fumble at the Rebels' 29-yard line to help set up Weston Tolbert's 3-yard TD run. The key play on the drive was a 21-yard, fourth-down conversion between Jesse Lewis and Keelan Doss. Hernandez's pass to Chris Bussey for the two-point conversion gave Alameda a 15-6 lead. Alameda will be at Arroyo again on Nov. 3 when it faces the Dons.
