The Alameda Animal Shelter was filled with many wonderful animals needing good homes so Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter scheduled a three-day "Free Adopt-a-thon."
The special adoptions took place the weekend of Dec. 7-9. The shelter reports that 21 dogs, cats and a rooster were adopted!
Two of the adoptions were animals with special needs. Marshmallow is a beautiful deaf white pit bull with an outgoing personality and is super friendly. The person who adopted Marshmallow did a lot of online research and made many inquires before finally adopting her. Marshmallow and her new person are doing great, thanks to her careful research.
The other special needs animal adopted is a cat named Finn who was diagnosed as FIV positive. Finn is a beautiful cat with a whimsical personality adopted by a very special family. Finn is now known as Finn Francis O'Neill. Both animals were favorites at the shelter and we are so very pleased to know that they are home for the holidays.
This holiday season we thank everyone for supporting the shelter. There is no greater accomplishment than adopting animals into their forever homes. During 2012, more than 430 animals were adopted from FAAS.
Every year, Bay Woof conducts a survey for the "Best of the Bay." Voting ends on Jan. 31, 2013. You can participate in the survey at this link: www.surveymonkey.com. Please consider voting for FAAS in the following

There is still time to purchase your FAAS calendar. This first 2013 calendar is full of local cats and dogs that were finalists in our recent pet photo contest. Calendars are available for purchase at the shelter, or you can order them by calling 510-337-8565.
