A 25-year-old man arrested on Monday on suspicion of public intoxication faces a vandalism charge after he kicked out the window of an officer's patrol vehicle and attempted to escape from custody, police said.
It happened about 1:25 a.m. in the 2300 block of Blanding Avenue.
The vandalism follows an incident last month, when a man who was arrested after he was caught trespassing on private property and in possession of burglary tools kicked and damaged the window of a patrol car while he was being brought to jail, police said.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 17 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 33, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 2:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of Park Street, where he allegedly failed field sobriety tests before he was taken into custody. IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported about 12:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Neptune Gardens Avenue, where someone used the victim's debit card information to make purchases online, police said. Identity theft was also reported about 4:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Haight Avenue.
THURSDAY, JULY 18 VEHICLE THEFT -- A motorcycle was reported stolen about 7:25 a.m. in the 2200 block of Alameda South Shore Center. IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported about 8:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of Webster Street, where someone used the victim's debit card number to make unauthorized purchases in Pennsylvania. POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY -- A man, 47, was arrested about 1:40 p.m. after investigators determined he was in possession of a bicycle reported stolen in Berkeley during an earlier arrest, police said. The man was also booked on suspicion of violating his parole. WEAPON POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 40-year-old man about 7:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Park Street after he was found in possession of brass knuckles. It happened after a patrol officer detained the man for a traffic violation as he was riding his bicycle. The man was also in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, police said. SHOPLIFTING -- A man jumped over the pharmacy counter at Walgreens on Webster Street, filled his backpack with medication and then fled
in a vehicle driven by a second suspect, police said. It happened about 10:05 p.m. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 52, on suspicion of drunken driving about 9:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Everett Street, where she was involved in a traffic collision.
FRIDAY, JULY 19 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 42, on suspicion of drunken driving about 2:20 a.m. after she was involved in a traffic collision in the 2100 block of Clement Avenue. MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- A 22-year-old man was arrested about 2:50 p.m. following a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Buena Vista Avenue after he was found in possession of marijuana, police said. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -- An attempted burglary was reported about 6:05 p.m. in the 100 block of Oak Park Drive, where someone tried to get inside the residence by prying open the front door.
SATURDAY, JULY 20 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 4:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. A vehicle was also reported stolen at 6:10 p.m. in the 1800 block of Sherman Street. UNDER THE INFLUENCE -- A traffic stop at Santa Clara Avenue and Mozart Street led to the arrest of a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police said. The woman, who was arrested about 9:50 p.m., was also accused of possessing two pill bottles that contained a controlled substance. Police said they found the bottles in her purse.
SUNDAY, JULY 21 VANDALISM -- A man, 25, arrested at 1:25 a.m. for public intoxication faces a vandalism charge after he kicked out the window of an officer's patrol vehicle and tried to escape from custody, police said. BURGLARY -- A burglar who entered a residence in the 1300 block of St. Charles Street through an open window apparently fled without stealing any items, police said. It was reported about 4 p.m.
MONDAY, JULY 22 BURGLARY -- A burglar who broke into a residence in the 1600 block of Eighth Street also stole the victim's vehicle, police said. Investigators learned about the case about 8:50 a.m. Someone also broke into a storage unit in the 1800 block of Webster Street in what police have classified as a burglary. It was reported just before 2 p.m.
