Transition movement presents documentary

A free screening of the documentary "In Transition 2.0" will be presented by the groups Transition Albany and Transition Berkeley at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Edith Stone Room of the Albany Library, 1247 Marin Ave.

According to organizers, the 66-minute video "provides an inspirational immersion into the growing Transition movement, with 16 stories gathered from seven countries around the world about people working together to respond to uncertain times with creative solutions and optimism."

Carolyne Stayton, executive director of Transition US, will attend and offer observations on the movement.

Slide presentation on Cuba at library

The Brown Bag Lunch Speaker series hosted by the Albany YMCA and Albany Library will feature a slide presentation on Cuba by longtime Berkeley photographer Don Melandry at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Edith Stone Room, 1247 Marin Ave.

"Cuba, People, Culture and the Arts" will have images Melandry took on a recent visit to the country and a discussion about his experience and impressions.
