O'Dowd, Albany advance to semifinals
The Bishop O'Dowd girls volleyball team swept Analy 25-16, 25-16, 25-17 in a North Coast Section Division III quarterfinal match on Nov. 10 to advance to a semifinal matchup with Albany on Nov. 14. Results of that match were unavailable at press time. Either Bishop O'Dowd or Albany has won four of the past five NCS Division III titles. In the Dragons' quarterfinal win, Kyle Carlson had 21 digs, Brianna Karsseboom slammed 14 kills and Sophia Mar passed for 23 assists.-- Staff
SJND, Head-Royce reach semifinals
The St. Joseph Notre Dame and Head-Royce girls volleyball teams won two matches apiece last week to move on and face each other in the North Coast Section Division V semifinals on Nov. 14. Results of that match were unavailable at press time. After a three-game sweep of Sonoma Academy on Nov. 7, the Pilots outlasted University 25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-7 on Nov. 10. Phoebe Grunt produced 19 kills, 12 blocks and 10 digs, and teammate Rebecca Langowski also had 19 kills and 19 digs in the University match. Head-Royce used a pair of sweeps to advance to the semifinals. It first beat San Domenico 25-9, 25-7, 25-15 on Nov. 7, then defeated College Prep 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 on Nov. 10. -- Staff
