MONDAY, Feb. 11

  • BREAK-IN -- During the night, unknown thieves cut the barbed wire fencing at Berkeley Motor Works on San Pablo Avenue and syphoned gas out of vehicles parked in the back lot.

  • AUTO BREAK-IN -- A caller reported at about 11 a.m. their car had been broken into while parked in an underground garage on Stannage Avenue. There were no witnesses.

    TUESDAY, FEB. 12

  • MISSING AUTO -- At about 12:30 a.m. a caller reported that their car had been stolen while it was parked at the Albany Bowl on the 500 block of San Pablo Avenue. Officers located the car parked mid-block on Adams Street.

    WEDNESDAY, FEB. 13

  • AUTO RECOVERY -- At about 2 p.m., officers investigated a car parked near Washington and Stannage avenues that had been parked there for several months and appeared to be abandoned. It was found to have been reported as stolen and it was towed.

    THURSDAY, FEB. 14

  • DUI -- At about 1:30 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on I-80 on the Buchanan Street on-ramp for a vehicle code violation. They arrested the driver, a Walnut Creek man, for suspicion of two counts of DUI.

  • DUI -- Officers stopped a vehicle on I-80 east of Buchanan Street at about 2 a.m. for a vehicle code violation. They arrested the driver, a Richmond woman, for suspicion of DUI.

  • ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN -- During the night, unknown vandals tried to pry open the metal garage door at Brittany Arms apartments on Kains Avenue.

  • CHICKEN SIGHTING -- At about 4:30 p.m., a caller reported seeing a black-and-white chicken in the road near Brighton and Cornell avenues and was concerned it might back up traffic. The chicken was gone when officers arrived.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- At about 9:30 p.m., officers stopped a bicyclist near Washington and San Pablo avenues because they observed suspicious activity. They arrested the rider, a Berkeley man, for suspicion of two counts of drug possession.

    FRIDAY, FEB. 15

  • SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY -- Officers received a call at about 10 a.m. regarding a person who was observed taking hub caps off a vehicle and rummaging through the vehicle. Officers responded and arrested the Berkeley man for suspicion of possession of stolen property.

  • THEFT -- During the night, unknown thieves stole coins and other items out of a car parked on Pierce Street. The owner said that the car may have been unlocked.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Officers stopped a bicyclist on the 900 block of San Pablo Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. for a vehicle code violation. They arrested the rider, a San Pablo man, for suspicion of drug possession and a probation violation.
