El Cerrito police log: Errant driver hits parked vehicles before overturning her car on Lexington Avenue

FRIDAY, JUNE 7 ROBBERY -- At 2:20 p.m., police arrested a Richmond man, 27, for stealing a bicycle, following a foot chase that ended with an officer tackling him near Albany Hill, where he was spotted pushing two bicycles. The suspect reportedly had punched the victim several times while taking the bike in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue.
SATURDAY, JUNE 8 DUI -- A San Pablo man, 36, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, following a traffic enforcement stop near Bayview and San Pablo avenues. An authorized search of his vehicle turned up a controlled substance.
SUNDAY, JUNE 9 ATTEMPTED THEFT -- The driver's side door lock of a Jeep Cherokee in the 500 block of Liberty Street was pried in an unsuccessful attempt to start the vehicle. COLLISION -- A woman lost control of her Honda Civic on Lexington Avenue, striking two parked vehicles. The impact caused her car to roll over onto its roof. She sustained minor injuries. THEFT -- An Oakland man, 46, with extensive theft convictions, was detained at the Del Norte BART station after he had discarded stolen property from Safeway that police subsequently located. A Richmond woman, 51, was arrested for trying to steal a cart full of groceries. She fled without the groceries behind, when she was confronted by the store manager. Police caught up with her in the parking lot.
MONDAY, JUNE 10 AUTO PARTS -- Rims and tires were stolen off a Chrysler on Glen Mawr Avenue and a vehicle on Lexington Avenue. Each vehicle was left on cinder blocks. SHOPLIFTING -- A Richmond man, 46, was arrested at 8:20 a.m. after he reportedly stole bottles of alcohol from CVS Pharmacy at 670 El Cerrito Plaza.
TUESDAY, JUNE 11 HIT & RUN -- An Albany man, 19, reportedly stole his friend's vehicle and then got into a collision in the 200 block of Behrens Street, before fleeing. THEFT -- A backpack and iPad were reported stolen from an unlocked Honda CRV in the Safeway parking lot.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12 COMMERCIAL CRIME -- An Oakland man, 27, was arrested for stealing about $650 worth of toiletries from Lucky Supermarket at El Cerrito Plaza. The suspect was found in possession of several hundred dollars worth of similar merchandise from CVS, and video footage showed him leaving the store without paying for the items he loaded into several empty shopping bags. POSSESSION -- A woman was arrested for possession of a firearm and narcotics after a traffic enforcement stop on South 55th Street. Another woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant. ROBBERY -- At 6 p.m., two people entered the lobby of the Super 8 Motel and confronted the receptionist. One of the suspects pointed a silver handgun, while the other demanded cash. The pair also grabbed the victim's laptop.
THURSDAY, JUNE 13 THEFT FROM AUTO -- A window of a Honda Element in the 2500 block of Tulare Avenue was broken and an estimated $600 worth of tools were stolen.
