Madonna says she was being ironic when she called President Obama "a black Muslim" onstage Monday night in Washington D.C.
He's not a Muslim, she now says. He's a commie.
OK, she didn't say that.
"I was being ironic on stage," the singer said Tuesday in a statement. "Yes, I know Obama is not a Muslim -- though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were? The point I was making is that a good man is a good man, no matter who he prays to. I don't care what religion Obama is -- nor should anyone else in America."
Yeah, but what if he is a commie? Huh? What then?
Madonna caused a big stir -- which she never likes doing -- when she said "Y'all better vote for (expletive) Obama, OK? For better or for worse, all right? We have a black Muslim in the White House. Now that's some amazing (expletive)," she said. "It means there is hope in this country. And Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man, goddamnit."
In September, while Obama was speaking at the Democratic National Convention, Madonna, 54, showed off an Obama tattoo on her lower back during a concert in New York. The tattoo was mostly likely temporary.
