OAKLAND -- A 44-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon, becoming the city's fifth homicide in 18 hours, police said.
The man, who has not been identified, was shot at 3:42 p.m. on the street in the 1500 block of 57th Avenue, police said. The shooter ran away, police said.
Police don't have a motive in the killing and no one has been arrested.
He was the 94th person killed in Oakland this year, and the fifth in 18 hours in the city. There were four other homicides between Monday night and early Tuesday morning. The killings don't appear to be related, police said.
