HOW IT WORKS: These high-end travel speakers (a woofer, two tweeters, plus an FM radio and an alarm clock) fold into an upright position like a retro travel alarm -- an attractive one -- with a clamshell case.
HIGH POINTS: Being painfully cheap but appreciating my music on the road, I do carry an acceptable portable speaker for my cellphone and MP3 player, but this is a game-changer. It's now on my birthday gift list. For anyone accustomed to the shallow, often tinny sound of many travel speakers, this will blow you away.
