Anthony Bourdain? Sure. Nigella Lawson? Of course we know that face. But it's always tough to keep contestants' names and faces straight on a new reality TV show, and the inaugural season of ABC's "The Taste" is no different.
Here's the lowdown on who's who on which team:
Team Bourdain Diane Dimeo, a brash and cocky New York-based restaurant consultant. Her audition dish: Cumin-scented lamb, cucumber and fig. Mia Morgenstern, a Harvard-educated San Francisco yoga instructor and avid home cook. Her dish: Indian-spiced lamb dish with mint-cilantro sauce. Ninamarie Bojekian, a New Jersey chef who worked for Marcus Samuelsson before opening her own Ooh La La Catering. Her dish: Chilean sea bass with butterscotch and cilantro relish. Uno Immanivong, the owner of Dallas-based Foodie Couture. Her dish: Lap Gai with minced gizzards.
Team Nigella Lauren Scott, this Mississippi home cook is the youngest contestant. Her dish: Flourless chocolate cake with pistachio brittle. Erika Monroe-Williams, former news anchor who hosts cooking segments on TV. She may live in Paradise Valley, Arizona now, but she has Bay Area ties. She's married to former San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Williams. Her dish: Lime-and-coriander crusted tuna. Renatta Lindsey, Houston home cook. Her dish: Dijon chicken and mashed potatoes. Huda Mu'min, the chef and owner behind Washington D.C. catering company Pretty and Delicious. Her dish: Garlic shrimp and grits.
Team Ludo Gregg Drusinsky, New York culinary instructor and former saucier at the legendary Le Bernardin. His dish: Singapore-style lobster with coconut milk and curry paste had Ludo and Malarkey fighting over him. Paul Caravelli, executive chef at 545 North Bar & Grill in Libertyville, Illinois. His dish: Pecan-crusted sea bass with artichokes and creamed corn. Sarah Schiear, Ft. Lauderdale food blogger and home cook. Her dish: Seared scallops with a peach and habanero salsa and marcona almond crumble. Shawn Davis, chef for a Beverly Hills supper club, dubbed H.O.M.E.. His dish: Five-spice tuna.
Team Malarkey Micah Kasman, San Francisco marketing and graphics designer and home cook. His dish: Moroccan-inspired filet mignon with vanilla-parsnip puree. Khristianne Uy, personal chef in Hollywood, whose clients include Charlie Sheen -- and this fierce, spiky-haired, much-tattooed chef is our early pick for fan favorite. Her dish: Corn puree with seared harissa scallops and duck chicharrones. Jeff Mahin, partner at the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group and chef-owner of Los Angeles' Stella Rossa Pizza Bar, with a resume that includes stints at England's The Fat Duck and New York's Nobu. His dish: Red miso snapper with avocado puree. Adam Pechal, chef and owner of Tuli Bistro and Restaurant Thir13en. His dish: Seared scallops with a sweet corn hash.
