It's hard to imagine any fan, of any musical genre, not getting something out of this well-crafted documentary. After all, the artists and studio wizards that put Muscle Shoals, Alabama, on the musical map had such impact that it crossed through countless styles.
It all started in the late '50s with Rick Hall's FAME Studios, which, over the years, would give birth to immortal recordings by the likes of Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Clarence Carter. It would continue with the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, which first made a mark in the late '60 by recording the Rolling Stones and other legends. Today, that studio still draws top-name talent, with such acts as the Black Keys coming to Alabama to try to capture that alluring "Muscle Shoals" sound.
