RICHMOND -- A Richmond man found dead inside an apartment where a small fire broke out a week ago was identified Tuesday as 52-year-old Christopher McCann, authorities said.
Richmond Fire Department crews responded to the fire on Feb. 12 at around 5:30 p.m. on the 400 block of South 23rd Street. Crews broke through the front door of the apartment, extinguished the flames and found McCann on the ground with severe burns to his body, according to fire officials.
The fire left little damage and was contained to the front entry area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. McCann's cause of death is still pending, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office.
