OAKLAND -- Levi Noddin's two-run triple helped lift the Arroyo High baseball team to a 4-3 win over Bishop O'Dowd on Thursday in the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division title game at Laney College.

The victory assures Arroyo (19-7) of a spot in the North Coast Section playoffs, which begin next week.

"That's really all we wanted from this game," Dons head coach Eric Anderson said.

Jacob Jennings singled and Goby Medina was safe on an error to lead off the Arroyo third. Dragons pitcher Channing Nesbitt bore down and got two outs, but Noddin got a belt-high fastball and drove it deep into center field, scoring two runs for a 2-0 lead.

"He was throwing me fastballs and figured he'd throw me another," Noddin said. "I was ready for it."

The Dons added two more runs in the fifth on a passed ball, three walks and Ben Sandoval's fielder's choice.

Bishop O'Dowd (16-10) finally got to Arroyo starter Tim O'Dalaigh in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs on David Kyriacou's single and Nesbitt's two-run pop single to left that fell between three Dons fielders.

The Dons had one last chance in the bottom of the fifth when Kyriacou and Matt Achramowicz hit two-out singles, putting runners on first and second.

But with Nesbitt at-bat, Kyriacou tried to steal third and was thrown out by Arroyo catcher Jaycob Medina for the final out.
