NEWARK — The Hot Newark Summer Classic Car & Truck Show is returning for its third year Sunday.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newark Pavilion, 6430 Thornton Ave. Admission is free. Aside from the classic vehicles, food, music, raffles and T-shirts will be offered.
The Diehards, a local rock band, will perform at 10 a.m. An awards presentation is set for 2 p.m. Cattlemen's restaurant in Newark will offer prime rib sandwiches. Other food will include hot links and hot dogs.
Visitors don't have to be knowledgeable about cars to enjoy the show, said Linda Ashley, Newark Educational Foundation president.
"Come join us, walk around, stop and talk to the guys who'll love talking to you. Bring the kids," she said.
The show is co-hosted by the Newark Chamber of Commerce and Classic Cruisers USA. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward supporting the chamber's member services and community.
Registration for those showing vehicles is $30, which includes a free T-shirt. All makes and models of vehicles are welcome.
More than 70 people already had registered by Thursday, with about 100 expected, Ashley said. Space is limited to 250. Vehicles can be registered Sunday, space permitting. The lot will open at 7:30 a.m. to event participants.
