Niles dog show — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual dog show is held at the Community Park, Third and H Streets. On-site registration at 9 a.m. No pedigree? No problem. Fun show for dogs of any breed or mix, with ribbons awarded in several classes — local office-holders will hand out the awards. Purebred dogs are welcome, but emphasis is on companion animals that make good family pets. Show also features performing and agility demonstrations, adoption parade by Tri-City Mobile Adoption Center, an information center and vendor village offering food, drink and exhibit wares. Art in the garden — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fremont Art Association and Regan's Nursery have teamed up for an art-in-action weekend. Artists will be drawing, painting and creating jewelry and exhibiting ceramic pieces, textile art and photography in a garden setting accompanied by soft music and splashing fountains. Visitors can watch the artists at work under cover of canopies and shade covers while strolling through the garden. The FAA artists will donate 20 percent of all artwork sales to the Cultural Arts in the Schools program in support of after-school visual arts programs in local public schools.
