Moreover, the junior who came up to the varsity level midway through last season, is coming off a tremendous week.
In a pair of Irvington wins, Ramos went a combined 6-for-8, including a two-run home run in a 10-1 win over Mission San Jose.
"I'm seeing the ball great," Ramos said. "It's about letting the ball come and trusting your hands."
It was a good week for the Vikings (14-8, 7-4 MVAL), who went 2-0. They also received a forfeit win over American Wednesday.
"We came in knowing we had a good young team," Ramos said. "We knew we had talent, and in the beginning we all jelled. We lost that along the way, but we've gotten it back."
The Vikings, who have clinched one of the four spots in next week's MVAL playoffs, have one regular-season game left Friday at James Logan.
"This week, practice has been great," Ramos said. "We need to stay focused on beating Logan. And I hope it all transfers over to NCS (North Coast Section) playoffs."
Irvington's no lock for the NCS playoffs. The Vikings do have some quality wins: Berkeley, Alameda, Pinole Valley and Clayton Valley. But they also have some ugly losses to American and John F. Kennedy.
A couple of weeks ago, the Vikings showed they can play with the best in the state when they lost to then-top ranked Livermore
"We came into that game with the mind-set of playing the game and not the opponent," Ramos said. "I think we shocked some people. We hung with the No.1 team in the state."
On the league season, the cleanup hitter Ramos is batting just under .400 with a pair of home runs and 10 RBIs.
"It all starts with our leadoff hitter," Ramos said. "If he gets a hit, we all follow."
