DETROIT -- Pat Neshek, the A's reliever whose infant son died on Wednesday, was called on to pitch Saturday night in the A's American League Division Series game against the Detroit Tigers.

Neshek came into the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners at first and second and got Oakland out a jam. After relieving starter Jarrod Parker, he got Omar Infante to hit into a force play and then struck out Austin Jackson to end the inning.

After the strikeout, Neshek tapped the memorial patch all of the A's wore Neshek's son Gehrig, who died 23 hours after he was born on Tuesday.
