A's manager Bob Melvin became one of just six people in major league history to win Manager of the Year in both leagues. He also won in 2007 with Arizona. Here are the others he joins (the award wasn't given until 1983): Washington's Davey Johnson was the National League winner this season. He also won in 1997 with Baltimore. Bobby Cox took the award with Toronto in 1985, then won it three times with Atlanta in 1991, 2004 and 2005. Tony La Russa won in 1983 with the Chicago White Sox, in 1988 and 1992 with the A's and in 2002 with St. Louis. Jim Leyland was honored in 1990 and 1992 with Pittsburgh and in 2006 with Detroit. Lou Piniella won in 1995 and 2001 with Seattle and with the Chicago Cubs in 2008.
