PHOENIX -- Eric Sogard now answers to the name "Face" in the A's clubhouse.

Sogard, who won the A's second base job last year and is back to see if he can do so again, has been the A's entry in the MLB Networks' "The Face of Baseball," a Twitter-driven competition pitting players from all teams against each other.

Sogard was the surprise winner of the "Face of the A's" competition earlier, and his momentum hasn't slowed. So far, the lightly bearded Sogard has ousted the Chicago Cubs' Anthony Rizzo and the Colorado Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki.

"I don't know what that's all about," Sogard said,"`except that it goes to show the passion of the A's fans. They jump in and they don't stop."

In having advanced to the third round, Sogard is head-to-jaw with Giants catcher Buster Posey.

"This should be interesting," Sogard said of the all-Bay Area matchup. The voting will take place in the next couple of days, voting starting at 6 a.m. and running to 5 p.m.
