PHOENIX -- Starting pitcher Jarrod Parker, the A's probable opening day starting pitcher, has been scratched from his start Saturday against the Giants in Scottsdale.

No reason has yet been given for the scratch, and Parker, who said he learned about the move Thursday, "didn't want to step on anybody's toes" by discussing it.

Asked if he was injured, Parker declined to say one way or another, as did pitching coach Curt Young.

Manager Bob Melvin is expected to address the situation before the A's take on Kansas City in Surprise this afternoon.
