Suspect wanted for burning of victim.

OAKLAND -- A man suspected of setting his girlfriend on fire Sunday in San Francisco's Bayview District was arrested late Monday night at a motel in North Oakland, police said.

Dexter Oliver, 22, threw flammable liquid on his girlfriend, then set her on fire around 12:15 p.m. Sunday near Hollister Avenue and Jennings Street, according to San Francisco police. The woman, in her 20s, was taken to the St. Francis Hospital Burn Center with severe burns to her face.

Officers from SFPD's Special Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshal's Service learned Monday that Oliver was at a motel near Macarthur Avenue and Telegraph Avenue. He surrendered around 9 p.m. and was arrested without incident, according to SFPD spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

He was taken to San Francisco County Jail and booked on suspicion of attempted murder and arson, Andraychak said. Police have not released any information on a possible motive for the attack.
