HAYWARD -- How to get up to $4,500 in rebates for home energy efficiency upgrades is the topic of a free workshop Thursday.
Contractors will be on hand to help residents decide which upgrades -- from simple changes such as wrapping a hot water heater to more advanced measures such as installing wall insulation -- make the most sense for their homes and budgets.
One of the programs available for only a limited amount of time is Flex Package, which uses a point system to let homeowners pick and choose energy upgrades to qualify for a $1,500 rebate. The Flex Package rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The workshop, sponsored by StopWaste.org, is open to all Alameda County residents. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at Hayward City Hall, 777 B St. To RSVP, go to http://eucworkshophayward.eventbrite.com or call 510-891-6533.
