A 30-year-old man shot several times Thursday evening in North Richmond died of his injuries at the hospital Friday morning, authorities said.

Coroner's officials identified the man as Rylando Matlock, whose city of residence has not been confirmed. Matlock was shot in the first block of Silver Avenue, where neighbors reported hearing shots fired about 9:38 p.m.

Residents at the scene when sheriff's deputies arrived told authorities a man had been shot several times, and that he was taken several blocks away to a location with medical personnel, Contra Costa Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said. The man was taken from that location to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he died from his injuries Friday morning.

Authorities have not identified any suspects or motive in the shooting, Lee said.
