LIVERMORE -- A 44-year-old Livermore man turned himself in to police Thursday after detectives found over 70 images of child pornography on his computer earlier this week, a Livermore police spokesman said.

Jason Erik Sherman was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of possessing child pornography after Livermore police detectives served a search warrant at his home Tuesday and took his computer, where over the course of the next day they found the images, said Officer Steve Goard.

Police would not disclose how they were alerted to Sherman possibly having the images, saying only that before serving the search warrant, detectives did an extensive investigation.

Sherman is being held at Santa Rita Jail.

Anyone who has any information on this incident or on Sherman is asked to contact Goard at 925-294-7531.
