Shoppers at Whole Foods markets on Wednesday can help fund the American Heart Association's program to promote healthy eating and cooking in local schools.
The grocer will donate 5 percent of proceeds from its stores on April 9 to the "Kids Cook with Heart" program, which teaches students in grades K-12 how to cook healthy meals. Representatives will answer questions about the program from 11:30-3 p.m. in the store at 100 Sunset Drive in San Ramon.
The heart association will offer the free program to three schools next fall and is accepting applications through April 16 from schools in Lafayette, San Ramon and Walnut Creek.
