BRENTWOOD -- Book lovers are invited to apply for a seat on a foundation that's being formed to help finance the construction of Brentwood's new library.
Applications for a seat on the board are available at the library at 104 Oak St., as well as via a link to Friends of the Brentwood Library's website at http://ccclib.org/friends/bre.html.
The applications are due May 16.
Brentwood City Council in October agreed to demolish the existing library and build a new, significantly larger one on the same site.
Although the city's financing most of the project, a foundation is needed to apply for larger grants to supplement the cost, according to Diane Alexander, president of Friends of the Brentwood Library.
Applications will be reviewed May 21 and a decision made shortly after that.
