PLEASANTON -- A man was dead Friday after being hit by a train at the Santa Rita Road railroad crossing, police said.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Pleasanton Police responded to calls about a person struck by an Altamont Commuter Express train.
The tracks are owned by Union Pacific Railroad, which is working with detectives to investigate why the man walked in front of the train.
Investigators believe the incident is a suicide. The identity of the man was not immediately released.
