East Bay Municipal Utility District workers late Thursday were repairing a water main break in Berkeley.
The 6-inch main broke in the 2300 block of Dwight Way, not far from Telegraph Avenue, about 6 p.m., East Bay MUD spokesman Charles Hardy said.
The underground pipe flooded part of the road, and workers managed to shut down the water flow shortly after 9 p.m.
Crews expected to have the main repaired early Friday. Until then, 16 homes in the area are without water.
No property damage was reported and there were no major traffic disruptions, Hardy said.
