BERKELEY -- The fifth annual Chocolate and Champagne Gala, a benefit for the Albany Education Foundation, will be held 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda in Berkeley.

Attendees will sample, as you might have guessed, chocolates and Champagne. There will also be a wine bar, craft beers, light appetizers including cheeses and other savory treats.

Central to the event is a silent auction. Proceeds benefit programs at Albany schools.

Among the items up for bid:

A free bowling party at Albany Bowl for 10 people; VIP admissions for four people to the Hiller Aviation Museum; a pair of tickets to the Freight and Salvage; a pair of tickets to Beach Blanket Babylon; a pair of tickets to a San Francisco Bulls hockey game; a pair of tickets to the San Francisco Symphony; a pair of tickets to the Oakland East Bay Symphony; a dinner prepared by Albany Fire Fighters; a gift basket from Arrow Glass; landscape design for a "medium sized project" by Sarah Ray Designs Inc.; a weekend condominium rental at Incline Village; one loaf of bread a week for a year from Semifreddi's; an introduction to climbing class at Iron Works Gym; a pair of tickets to the Grand Prix of Sonoma; four passes to Children's Fairyland; four guest passes to Day at the Races at Golden Gate Fields; a family pass to view Old Faithful Geyser and four guest passes to the Cartoon Museum.
