FIRST TEAM

IRIS BRAND, Amador Valley, Jr. -- For a third consecutive season, Brand captured the 50 freestyle at the North Coast Section championships. She was also just 0.10 seconds off the winning time in the 100 freestyle in taking second place. Brand was the 100 freestyle champion at the East Bay Athletic League meet.

SAMANTHA COLOMA, Carondelet, So. -- Carondelet has yet another 100 backstroke star in Coloma, who won the event at both the NCS and EBAL championships. Her time of 54.35 was a league meet record, and she then dropped a half-second off that time at the NCS meet.

GIANNA GARCIA, San Ramon Valley, So. -- In addition to swimming on two winning relay teams, including the 200 freestyle team that broke an NCS record, Garcia earned third-place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke at NCS. She won the butterfly at the EBAL meet.

LAUREN HALL, Amador Valley, Sr. -- Hall claimed first place in the 1-meter diving competition at the NCS championships with a score of 468.60. After 11 dives, she scored just better than second place Emelie Weiderman of Irvington, who scored a 467.00.

MADDIE MURPHY, Carondelet, So. -- Murphy had great swims at the EBAL and NCS meets. She claimed firsts in both the 200 and 50 freestyle at the league meet before shifting to the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly for NCS. She won the 100 free and was second in the butterfly there.

HEIDI POPPE, San Ramon Valley, Sr. -- Poppe won the 100 breaststroke title for a third straight season, becoming only the second swimmer in NCS history to break a minute in the event. Poppe was also second in the 50 freestyle and was on two winning relay teams, including the 200 freestyle team that set an NCS meet record.

MORIAH SIMONDS, Granada, So. -- Simonds took first place in the grueling 500 freestyle with an All-America automatic time of 4:47.21. In the 200 freestyle, she was third. She also did well at the EBAL meet with two second-place finishes in the same events.

BRITTANY USINGER, Acalanes, Jr. -- After setting Diablo Foothill Athletic League meet records in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Usinger replaced the 500 with the 100 butterfly at the NCS finals and was victorious in the event. In the 200 freestyle, Usinger finished second at NCS.
