The Earthquakes Chris Wondolowski was voted Major League Soccer player of the month for the second consecutive time by the North American Soccer Reporters, the league announced Monday.
The award for October was the fourth for Wondolowski this season in which he scored 27 goals to tie the single-season league record set in 1996 by Roy Lassiter. No other player has won player of the month four times in a MLS season.
Wondolowski led the Quakes to a 1-0-2 record in October as San Jose won its second Supporters' Shield as the regular-season champion. He scored five goals in the three games.
Wondolowski will lead the Quakes on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Galaxy in the second-leg of the Western Conference semifinals at Buck Shaw Stadium. San Jose won the first game Sunday night 1-0 on Victor Bernardez' 31-yard strike in the 94th minute.
