NEWARK -- A two-alarm fire that was reported just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday on the 35000 block of Severn Drive in Newark caused damage estimated at between $135,000 and $200,000, according to fire officials.

The blaze destroyed the home's garage and attic, along with their contents, said Aisha Knowles, spokeswoman for the Alameda County Fire Department.

No one was injured in the fire, which was put out within 30 minutes. But "I was told the family was displaced and has been relocated temporarily by their insurance," she said.

Knowles said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
