MENLO PARK -- Authorities have identified the second homicide victim in Menlo Park this year as Carey Cudlip, 42.
Shot and killed in a car Saturday night during a violent confrontation, Cudlip, who has lived in Newark, was found in the street in the 300 block of Ivy Drive about 6:30 p.m. by police. They were responding to reports of gunfire, said Menlo Park police and the San Mateo County Coroner's Office. Cudlip was later pronounced dead.
Cudlip and a woman, who may have been his wife, were sitting in a car at the time of the deadly assault, authorities said. Menlo Park police Cmdr. Dave Bertini said the events leading up to the killing remain under investigation.
Two men in dark hooded sweatshirts were seen running from the scene after the shooting. No arrests have been reported.
This, the second killing in the city in 2012, follows the death of Jesus Molina, 19, who was shot and killed in June in the 1300 block of Madera Avenue.
