CONTRA COSTA COUNTY -- The Contra Costa Fire District will hold community meetings in four cities where fire stations will close on Jan. 15.

The board of supervisors voted in December to shutter four of its 28 stations after financial shortfalls drained the district's budget reserves and voters rejected a temporary parcel tax on the November ballot.

The four stations set for closure are in Clayton, Lafayette, Martinez and Walnut Creek.

Fire Chief Daryl Louder, county supervisors, city council members and city managers will be available to answer questions about plans for service once the stations close.

The meetings will be held on:

  • Jan. 7, 6:30 p.m., Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building, 3780 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette.

  • Jan. 10, 6:30 p.m., Martinez Junior High School, 1600 Court St., Martinez

  • Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m., Walnut Heights Elementary School, 4064 Walnut Blvd., Walnut Creek

  • Jan. 23, 7 p.m., Clayton Community Library, 6125 Clayton Road, Clayton
