MARTINEZ -- Police were called to Hidden Valley Park on Saturday morning regarding a possible pipe bomb, but the device was found not to be explosive.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious device at 11:34 a.m. and were directed to the middle of the park, which was cordoned off for public safety, a Martinez police spokesman said.
Officers called in the Walnut Creek police bomb squad. The team determined that the device was not a pipe bomb, though it had the appearance of one.
