CONCORD -- A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash on Sunday night in Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 6:27 p.m. to Kirker Pass Road at Hess Road for a report of a solo motorcycle crash, said Officer Eric Anderson.

The Contra Costa County coroner was also called to the scene, Anderson said.

The crashed motorcycle blocked at least one lane of traffic for about one hour, authorities said.

Authorities did not release the name of the motorcyclist who died and the crash remained under investigation Sunday night.
