OAKLAND -- Two men were shot early Thursday on an East Oakland street where a 16-year-old girl was killed by gunfire in August, authorities said.
Police don't believe at this time the shootings are related.
Thursday's shooting happened about 12:50 a.m. in the 2600 block of Talbot Avenue which runs between MacArthur Boulevard and Interstate 580 near the Foothill Square Shopping Center.
The two wounded men, a 28-year-old Bay Point resident and a 33-year-old man who did not give an address, said they were shot by someone in a car while walking on the street. Their names were not released by police.
They said they called another person who gave them a ride to a hospital where the younger man was treated for gunshots to his legs and the other man for wounds to his side.
But police said the car they believe the men were brought to the hospital in, that was found parked on a street near the hospital, had bullet holes in it, leading them to believe the men were actually in the vehicle when they were shot.
A parked car on Talbot Avenue also was hit by gunfire, police said. No arrests have been made.
On Aug. 8, Taiteanna Turner, 16, the mother of an 8-month-old baby girl, was fatally shot outside a store in the 2700 block of Talbot Avenue at MacArthur Boulevard. A 23-year-old man with the girl was also wounded. No arrests have been made in the case.
