The new year didn't get off to the greatest start for Giants pitcher Sergio Romo, according to multiple reports.
According to entertainment news site TMZ, Romo was handcuffed New Year's Day at the Las Vegas airport after allegedly becoming belligerent with a TSA officer.
According to TMZ, the pitcher was detained by police when he couldn't provide the proper ID to clear security, then became "angry and aggressive" with a TSA agent. He was then taken to the police station at the airport , where he was cited for violating airport rules and released. Romo wasn't allowed to fly after the incident, and was escorted off airport grounds.
TMZ reported that according to law enforcement sources, Romo appeared to be under the influence.
According to ABC7 News, Romo was returning to San Francisco after attending a party in Las Vegas on Dec. 30.
