OAKLAND -- The Alameda County Coroner has been called to the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 880, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers were called about 7:45 p.m. to the northbound lanes of I-880 near the High Street off ramp for a report of a car that crashed into the center divider there, said Officer Eric Anderson.

As of about 9 p.m., the crash had all northbound lanes of the interstate blocked just after High Street, and all northbound traffic was being diverted at 66th Avenue, Anderson said.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
