FREMONT -- A head-on collision that sent one person to the hospital shut down a portion of Mission Boulevard in Fremont during peak commute hours Thursday morning.

Officers responded at 9:25 a.m. to Mission Boulevard near Telles Lane and Washington Boulevard for a report of an injury crash involving multiple vehicles, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

The crash involved a Cadillac sedan and an Oldsmobile sedan that hit each other head-on. The reason for the crash is still under investigation.

Responding officers said at least one person had "visible injuries," though what kind and the extent of the injuries were unknown.

Bosques confirmed that one person was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police closed the southbound lanes of Mission Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and Telles Lane for approximately one hour.
