SAN JOSE -- A man is in the hospital with wounds not believed to be life-threatening after he was shot on the 100 block of Hayes Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Monday in what police are investigating as a gang-related attack.

Officers responding to reports that someone had been gunned down found a 20-year-old San Jose man suffering from at least one bullet wound near the intersection of Hayes and Lean avenues in the Blossom Valley neighborhood of South San Jose.

No suspects were identified, and those responsible for the shooting remain at large, police said.

Police said they are "exploring the possibility that the shooting was gang related," but said the investigation is ongoing and did not provide any further information Monday evening.
