SAN LEANDRO -- A young girl received minor injuries Tuesday morning when she was struck by a car along a busy city street, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 7:50 a.m. to Fargo Avenue and Farnsworth Street for a report of a vehicle hitting a child, said Lt. Randy Brandt.

The intersection is about three blocks east of Washington Manor Middle School, which is at Fargo Avenue and Churchill Street.

When police arrived they found a young girl who had been hit by a vehicle. The girl, whose age was not known, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure, Brandt said.

Police did not release additional information about the driver of the vehicle, but as of Tuesday afternoon no arrest had been made and the incident remained under investigation, Brandt said.
