A man whom a patrol officer detained Tuesday night for riding a bicycle through a stop sign was on probation and carrying marijuana packaged for sale, police said.
A records check also revealed the bicycle was reported stolen in Davis. The arrest occurred about 11:35 p.m. in the 2500 block of Eagle Avenue. Officers allegedly found the marijuana after learning the 34-year-old was on probation and hence could be searched. Along with violating his probation and a narcotics charge stemming from the marijuana, the man was booked on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9 TRESPASSING -- Police arrested a transient, 31, about 12:10 a.m. after he was found in the parking lot of Nob Hill on Blanding Avenue despite a judge ordering him to stay away from the property, police said. The man, who was booked on suspicion of trespassing, is also a convicted arsonist who was out of compliance with his registration requirements due to not having a permanent address, police said. BURGLARY -- A burglar removed a basement door from its hinges before stealing items from inside a residence in the 1300 block of Grove Street. The break-in was reported at 9:20 a.m. A burglary was also reported about 1:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Eastshore Drive, where someone stole a bicycle and tools from a garage after breaking a window lock.
THURSDAY, JAN. 10 GRAND THEFT -- Someone stole an outboard motor from a boat in the 1100 block of Ballena Boulevard. The theft was reported about 12:45 p.m. DRUG PARAPHENALIA -- A man whom officers contacted while answering a call for service in the 2300 block of Central Avenue was arrested after he was found in possession of a crack pipe, police said. The man, 56, who was arrested just after 9 p.m., was also allegedly in possession of hypodermic needles.
FRIDAY, JAN. 11 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 11:05 a.m. in the 1400 block of Grove Street. DRUG POSSESSION -- A woman allegedly told police that she was planning to shoplift merchandise from the CVS pharmacy on Santa Clara Avenue after she was initially detained as a suspicious person. The 36-year-old woman, who was arrested about 2:40 p.m., was wearing a jacket with a torn interior lining, where she planned to conceal the stolen items, police said. Along with facing a charge over an earlier theft at the pharmacy, the woman was booked on suspiction of violating her probation and burglary because she entered the building to carry out a theft, police said. She was also accused of possessing drug paraphenalia. RESISTING POLICE -- A man known to police as someone who was on probation for narcotics offenses tried to run from officers when they tried to contact him, records say. After the 21-year-old man was taken into custody about 5:20 p.m. in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue, officers checked his phone and found text messages that showed he was selling narcotics, police said. Another man, 45, was arrested just before 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Park Street after a background check showed he was wanted on an outstanding misdeamenor warrant. The man, who was booked at the North County Jail in Oakland, was also in possession of medical marijuana.
SATURDAY, JAN. 12 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 23, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 2:25 a.m. in the 2600 block of Tilden Way. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 12:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of Mecartney Road. BURGLARY -- Jewelry was stolen after a burglar entered a residence through a laundry room window in the 1900 block of Bay Street and then searched inside for valuables. The burglary was reported at 9:15 p.m.
SUNDAY, JAN. 13 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 25, on suspicion of drunken driving after officers questioned him him because his vehicle was "creating a traffic hazard in the middle of the roadway," police said. It happened about 12:45 a.m. at Webster Street and Willie Stargell Avenue, where the man also allegedly failed field sobriety tests. A woman, 42, was also arrested on suspicion of drunken driving just before 4 p.m. at Lincoln Avenue and Park Street, as well as on suspicion of child endangerment because her child was in the vehicle, police said. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported about 9:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Versailles Avenue. ANIMAL CRUELTY -- A 62-year-old man faces an animal cruelty charge after police said he left his dog inside his vehicle overnight, when temperatures dropped below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The man was arrested about noon after the incident in the 300 block of Willow Street.
MONDAY, JAN. 14 BURGLARY -- A burglary was reported about 10:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Solomon Lane. PETTY THEFT -- A security guard at Nob Hill on Blanding Avenue placed a man, 43, under citizen's arrest just before 4 p.m. after he shoplifted toothbrushes and exited the store, police said. The man faces a petty theft charge.
